This year it is our privilege to support The Ellie Penrose Fund
Ellie was a pupil at Hymers College, Hull, and was, amongst many other things, an outstanding sportswoman. All of the proceeds from The Humber Bridge Sportive will be donated to Ellie’s Fund, so a big thank you to all riders for choosing to take part in this event; should you wish to raise additional sponsorship for this Fund, or make a donation, you will find all relevant details below.
Foreword from the family
On the 13 August our beautiful and very talented daughter Ellie died suddenly from meningitis. Ellie was just 18 years old, quiet, unassuming, never critical of others, very fit, full of energy and always smiling. As she was the last of our children at home, and we did virtually everything together, her passing has left a huge gap in our world.
Ellie was a brilliant mathematician, and on the day she passed away she received and read her A level results, earning top grades and was offered an unconditional place to study maths at her first choice university, York.
The greatest love in her life was sport and particularly Triathlon racing. She used all of her spare time and money in training, which culminated in representing Great Britain at the European championships in Geneva in July, which we attended and for which we are all so proud.
In Ellie’s memory, and given her love of sport, we have set up The Ellie Penrose Fund. The Fund will provide support for young people aged 21 and under, who wish to participate in sport, but lack the finances to do so. Assistance may be to simply provide a running top or trainers or possibly transport to reach events, and is for those who really just need that bit of assistance and encouragement, which Ellie received.
We are therefore looking for your support. All contributions will be fully used for the Charity’s aims, as there are no operating costs and we will ensure that the Fund operates for many years to come.
If you wish to make a contribution, you can do so by cheque, made payable to The Ellie Penrose Fund or by payment into bank account (sort code: 20-43-47 account number: 13002365 and please include name as reference), or alternatively a pledge for collection later. If you are kind enough to make a donation, please do confirm your address and postcode and that you are a tax payer as we can then claim charitable gift aid relief, which increases any donation by 25%.
The Ellie Penrose Fund is a Registered Charity (1164073) and have been recognised to receive GiftAid (EW39162).
